Woman ages 50 years in 3 days

After developing a rash on her face from eating seafood, 23-year-old Vietnamese woman Thi Phuong took several prescribed medications in an attempt to get rid of it. Three days later she had the appearance of a 76-year-old.

Doctors have several bizarre theories about what may have caused the rapid ageing. It might have been a reaction to the cocktail of medications she took to heal her rash, or one of several rare conditions. But Doctor Yen Lam Phuc of the Vietnam Military Medical Academy believes “it could be a totally new syndrome.”

Too poor to pursue any potential line of treatment, Thi Phuong eventually accepted her condition as “decreed by God”, and decided to move forward with her life, getting a job in a cashew-processing factory. “The rapid-aging syndrome hasn’t affected my menstrual cycle, hair, teeth eyes and mind,” Thi Phuong explained. She credits her positive outlook to the support of her loving husband. “He still loves me like before despite the fact that I look old and ugly. With him, I feel more confident to live and work.”

 “I married Phuong when she was a beautiful woman,” her husband explained. “I have followed her through her desease and have never been shocked at all… It’s not easy to talk about one’s own martial affairs. Just simply understand that I still love her very much.”
