Zoo plays Marvin Gaye to get pandas in the mood

Female pandas are only fertile for two days a year, and the males really just don’t seem interested. So it’s important we humans do all we can to convince them to make sweet love. 

Tian Tian, a panda at Edinburgh Zoo, is coming up on her fertile period so zoo staff have been pulling out all the stops to get the panda’s mate, Yang Guang, in the mood.

Extra bamboo and mood lighting are some of the methods used, but this year they’ve also started playing “smooth” music to get his juices flowing, including Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s get it on”.
