Odd things, daily.
The Festival of the Guinea Pig is held every year in the small town of Huacho, Peru. It involves dressing guinea pigs up in fancy costumes and parading them around in fashion shows and then… ahem… cooking and eating them.
When the fashion shows are over the guinea pigs are taken out of their costumes and cooked, usually complete with heads, paws and claws.
Juan Rojas, a festival visitor explained:
“Guinea pig meat is very nourishing and contains lots of vitamins and other things.”
