Odd things, daily.
Every Sunday we do a brief re-cap of odd bits from throughout the week. These strange nuggets may be brief, but are bizarre and interesting nonetheless.
An adulterous Polish man attempted to cheat on his wife by visiting a local brothel. He was shocked to discover his wife at the very same brothel, where she was working as a prostitute. The man explained:
“I was dumfounded. I thought I was dreaming.”
The couple were married for 14 years and are now in the middle of a divorce.
Nábrókarstafur, or “Necropants,” is an Icelandic symbol representing a pair of pants made from the skin of a dead man. As explained by the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft:
“If you want to make your own necropants, you have to get permission from a living man to use his skin after he’s dead. After he has been buried you must dig up his body and flay the skin of the corpse in one piece from the waist down. As soon as you step into the pants they will stick to your own skin. A coin must be stolen from a poor widow and placed in the scrotum along with the magical sign, nábrókarstafur, written on a piece of paper. Consequently the coin will draw money into the scrotum so it will never be empty, as long as the original coin is not removed. To ensure salvation the owner has to convince someone else to overtake the pants and step into each leg as soon as he gets out of it. The necropants will thus keep the money-gathering nature for generations.”
Special thanks to Aislinn Evans for bringing my attention these bizarre trousers.
A contractor working at the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London was caught penetrating a vacuum hose with his penis. The security guard who stumbled on the scene told the authorities and the man was fired. A spokesperson for HG Construction in London, who had employed the man, explained:
“That behaviour is not acceptable, though it gave a few people a laugh.”
Incidentally, the model of vacuum used was the Henry Hoover model, described by the company website as:
“A powerful, reliable vacuum cleaner ready to go time and time again.”
Not unlike the recent OddFix article about the man who had sex with 100 corpses, a 37-year-old Swedish woman has been caught with human skeletal remains inside her home. She is suspected to have used 100 parts, including six sculls and a spine in “sexual situations”.
She has been charged with violating the peace of the deceased. If convicted, she could face up to two years in prison.
Nicknamed the “Cannibal Cop”, Gilberto Valle, a New York City policeman has been arrested after making disturbing comments to an online friend. Valle wrote that he was interested in getting some “girl meat” in time for thanksgiving. He went on to write:
“I was thinking of tying her body onto some kind of apparatus. Cook her over a low heat, keep her alive as long as possible.”
Valle also told his online friend he planned to “grab her from her house.”
